You've just turned a month old. On the one hand, I can't believe you're already a month old, but on the other it feels like a lifetime ago that you were joining us.
The past 4 weeks have been some of the most challenging and rewarding in my life. I ultimately chose to breast feed you, which has proven to be a wonderful bonding experience, but a difficult one. The first two weeks I fed you every 1 to 2 hours - day and night! We slept you in the moses basket in our room, so I'd just scoop you up and into bed with me. It was exhausting! After 2 weeks it got a bit better and we moved you to your room (still in the moses basket). I was up every 2 hours - which felt amazing at the time! But at 3 weeks you went through another growth spurt and nursed at every hour for a day or two.
Still, I feel I'm doing the right thing in nursing you, so I will persevere!
You also hate to sleep on your back (tummy sleeping is a no-no due to SIDS risk) - we tried you inclined in the moses basket, in the swing, in the bouncy seat - nothing! Finally I caved and slept you on your side between a sleep positioner and you are much happier.
So far you are an easy-going, generally happy baby. You usually only fuss when hungry, and any other fussing is quickly calmed with swaddling, rocking and a pacifier.
Every day you grow before my eyes - I have watched your eyelashes grow in - first from none to the full lashes you now have. It's amazing to see you change so much in such a short time. You look a lot like me - a couple of my baby pictures could have been taken of you. I love this - it's amazing seeing myself in you. This doesn't mean you'll always look like me (I looked like Sha-sha as a baby, too, and now we don't look alike at all!), but it's certainly fun for now.
You gave up your first smile to me a few days ago (you practiced in your sleep first) - at a moment I was feeling particularly blue. You melted my heart and made my whole day, and I'll always be grateful for that.
You've also pooped on me 3 times - I'm not so grateful for that!
